On the night of July 24-25, 2025, the Starlink system experienced a global outage. It affected users around the world.

The Starlink system is designed to provide access to high-speed broadband satellite internet across the globe. As of July 2025, it consists of nearly 8,000 active vehicles. Starlink plays a very important role in repelling Russian aggression by providing communications to Ukrainian military personnel on the front lines.
A global system failure occurred on the night of July 25. Starlink network traffic dropped by a factor of 7, and complaints about malfunctions were received from more than 60,000 users. The highest number of reports was recorded in the United States, Canada, and Germany.
In total, the global outage lasted 2.5 hours. Ultimately, the company’s specialists were able to resolve the issue and restore access to the network. Later, Starlink Vice President Michael Nichols reported that the outage was caused by the failure of key internal software services supporting the core network, and apologized to users for the inconvenience caused.
