The popular science media outlet Universe Space Tech has announced the results of the “Best Astrophotography of Ukraine 2025” contest. The winners were announced on October 5 during the Cosmozlit meeting of space enthusiasts held in Kyiv.

The “Best Astrophotography of Ukraine 2025” contest began in February 2025. A total of 234 photos were submitted. Participants competed for victory in the following five categories:
- Best Professional Astrophotography;
- Best Amateur Astrophotography;
- Best Mobile Astrophotography;
- Universe Space Tech Readers’ Choice;
- Best Children’s Astrophotography.
After reviewing the works, the jury selected the following photographs as the best. Andrii Tandyriak celebrated his victory in the category “Best Professional Astrophotography.” While photographing the Perseid meteor shower at Kniazhi Skeli in the village of Verkhnie Syniovydne in the Lviv Oblast, he managed to capture the unexpected appearance of aurora borealis in the sky.

“No one was expecting the aurora borealis then. I went out to photograph the Perseids—and got a night I would remember for the rest of my life.”
Serhii Lymar won in the category “Best Amateur Astrophotography.” His photograph captures star tracks—an effect caused by the Earth’s rotation around its axis.

The winner in the category “Best Mobile Astrophotography” was Maksym Shevtsov. His work shows comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan — ATLAS) and the Milky Way. The photo was taken near a small lake in Vinnytsia.

The winner in the category “Best Children’s Astrophotography” was a photograph by Tymofii Malon. It shows the lunar eclipse observed on October 29, 2023.

Hundreds of members of our community took part in the vote in the “Universe Space Tech Readers’ Choice” category. As a result, Dana Hoha celebrated her victory. The photo was taken in the village of Makarovo, Zakarpattia Oblast.

The winner accompanied her work with the following comment:
“To the people who look at the stars and wish, Rhys. – To the stars who listen- and the dreams that are answered.”
