Space cookies for the holidays. Let’s make “nut moons” from Pani Stefa

On Christmas Eve, Galician cuisine researcher Marianna Dushar (also known as Pani Stefa) treated the Universe Space Tech editorial team to “nut moons.” These cookies are quick to make, even quicker to eat, and so delicious! There is no stopping them!

With Marianna’s kind permission, we are sharing with you a cookie recipe that will make dreaming about the Moon even more wonderful!

What you will need:

For the dough:

  • 250 g butter
  • 75 g sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 100 g walnuts
  • 100 g almonds
  • 280 g flour

Additionally:

• Powdered sugar for sprinkling

Cooking:

  1. Cream the butter with the sugar, vanilla sugar, and zest until fluffy.
  2. Dry the walnuts and almonds in the oven. When they have cooled, grind them in a food processor.
  3. Mix the flour, nuts, and butter creamed with sugar. Knead the dough and chill it for 30-40 minutes.
  4. Roll out the chilled dough and cut out small horseshoes – the future “moons.”
  5. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 200°C for 8-9 minutes.
  6. Cool the finished cookies and sprinkle generously with powdered sugar.
