When autumn finally gives way to winter and the air becomes crystal clear, the night sky presents us with one of its most enchanting sights. We are talking about the November full moon, which most of us know as the Beaver Moon. But in 2025, it will receive another name – the Hunter’s Moon. This is not a mistake, but a real calendar surprise, a little astronomical mystery. So let’s solve this mystery and find out when and how best to observe this unique full moon.

What is Hunter’s Moon?
Imagine the world of our ancestors, where life was in harmony with nature. As soon as the harvest was over under the light of the Harvest Moon, the fields were left bare. And then the next full moon became the hunters’ perfect ally. Its bright light flooded the earth, making every shadow visible – the best time to provide the family with supplies for the long, cold winter.

Astronomically, it is simple: the full moon immediately following the Harvest Moon (the one closest to the autumn equinox) is called the Hunter’s Moon. Usually, this role falls to the October full moon. However, this will not be the case in 2025. This year, the Harvest Moon was on October 7, so the Hunter’s Moon “moved” to November.
And this is where the main intrigue lies. After all, the November full moon has its original name – Beaver Moon. This name echoes the times when people noticed that it was under its light that beavers worked most diligently, strengthening their dams before the long winter. And so it happened that in 2025, astronomy and nature intertwined in a unique pattern: due to a calendar shift, the Hunter’s Moon “visited” the Beaver Moon. Therefore, the full moon on November 5 has every right to be called by both of these ancient names.
When will the full moon occur in November 2025?
Now for the most important part – the dates. Mark your calendars: the peak of the full moon, when our natural satellite will be perfectly round, will occur on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 3:19 p.m. Kyiv time (1:19 p.m. UTC).

Yes, it is daytime, but do not worry! You will have three wonderful nights to observe the moon when it is almost perfectly full: November 4, 5, and 6.
Where to observe
The best ticket to this heavenly show is a place far from city lights, because the darker your surroundings, the brighter and more majestic the full moon will appear.

A special recommendation – catch the moment when the Moon rises. Believe me, it is a sight that will remain in your memory for a long time: a huge, almost crimson disc slowly emerging from the dark horizon is truly breathtaking.
In addition, this year, when the full moon in November falls at the beginning of the month, a real gift awaits us. We are talking about the main meteor shower of the month, the famous Leonid meteor shower, which will peak on the 17th and 18th. By that time, our natural satellite will have turned into a thin crescent and will not interfere with enjoying this celestial show.
So dress warmly, grab a thermos of tea, and do not miss the opportunity to see the unique full moon of 2025! This lunar cycle will end, and the darkest nights, ideal for stargazing, will return with the new moon in November, which will occur on the 27th.
